Young innovators of the Rostov region in 2020 received support for the competitions "UMNIK" for a total of 20.5 million rubles

On December 19, 2020, the winners of the "smart GUY" competition from the innovation promotion Fund under the national program "Digital economy" were awarded at the boiling Point of the Russian state University of Economics (RINH) in Rostov-on-don.

During 2020, 11 "UMNIK" contests were held, including two "UMNIK - Digital Russia. Rostov-on-don". More than 80 innovators from the Rostov region took part in the selection events, of which 41 projects won.

- This year, innovators of the Rostov region received support for the "smart GUY" competitions within the framework of the national program "Digital economy" in the amount of 20.5 million rubles. This indicates the interest of young people in the programs of the innovation promotion Fund, - said the head of the representative office in the Rostov region Anna Pushenko, opening the solemn event. - The innovation promotion Foundation is more than 25 years old. The Foundation's representative office in the Rostov region is organized on the basis of the innovation Agency with the support of the Ministry of economic development of the region. According to the adviser to the Governor Anton Alekseev, the winners of the contest are "digital stars" who will be able to change the landscape of the Rostov region in the field of digitalization and confirm the title of the Runet "Rostov-on-don – IT-capital of Russia"with their work and future implementations of solutions.

Rector of Rostov state University of Economics (RINH) Elena Makarenko congratulated the winners-representatives of her University: associate Professor of the Department of information systems and applied Informatics Sergey Glushenko and student of the faculty of computer technology and information security Elizaveta Pydyk.

"We're proud of them. It is very important when active, ambitious students and teachers get the opportunity to implement their ideas and material support, " said Elena Makarenko.

The winners were awarded commemorative diplomas from the innovation promotion Fund, and by the end of 2020, all of them will receive the full amount of the grant in the amount of 500 thousand rubles.

Recall that the name "UMNIK" is an abbreviation that stands for "participant of the youth scientific and innovative competition". Every year, up to 900 projects are supported in the country under this program, that is, every eighth participant of the competition becomes a winner.

The awarding of the winners of the "UMNIK" program was held with the support of the government of the don region and the representative office of the innovation promotion Fund in the Rostov region.
