More and more companies are getting involved in the Worldskills movement

The WorldSkills Russia movement began in our country as a championship movement - the world's best technologies and standards in professions, modern equipment were then available mainly in the preparation of national team Champions. But gradually, the methods and standards of the movement began to be transferred to educational professional programs that were developed by the WorldSkills Russia Academy in hundreds of competencies.

- The movement provides manufacturing companies with at least three basic opportunities, - says Svetlana Kraichinskaya, Deputy General Director of the Union "Young professionals (WorldSkills Russia)" for training, Director of the WorldSkills Russia Academy. The first is a description of the most popular professional skills in the Worldskills competence format. These competencies can be used for standardized training of personnel. The second option is one of the most advanced and proven systems for evaluating professional skills. Any skill in the Worldskills system is evaluated by approximately 250-300 parameters, and the assessment is carried out by at least three independent experts, so it is extremely objective. It can be used to evaluate both the company's own staff and graduates of educational organizations who will come or plan to come to work in the company. The third option is to train personnel according to Worldskills standards in the company itself, or, alternatively, in one of more than 1200 centers that are part of the WorldSkills Russia Academy network. The system is working, and more and more companies are getting involved in it.

According to the programs of the WorldSkills Russia Academy, students are trained in the companies themselves, as well as in colleges and universities that have passed a special qualification selection. The movement managed to establish fruitful cooperation with the existing system of professional education.

-Of course, there were difficulties associated to a large extent with the lack of modern material and technical base and the lack of modern staff of teachers, - says Svetlana Kraichinskaya. - Therefore, it was a very correct decision to rely on two key factors in the framework of the national project "Education". The first is updating the material and technical base, creating workshops that are now equipped according to Worldskills standards. Every year, 700 or more workshops appear all over the country. The second important decision is to regularly improve the skills of teachers and masters of industrial training. These two factors change the system a lot. There was a period when corporate universities and corporate training centers began to replace the system of professional education and, in part, even higher education. In my opinion, this was a temporary measure. Their functionality is completely different, because the task of the system of secondary special and higher education is to provide basic education and basic training at the level of modern requirements. And the corporate system provides unique corporate knowledge and skills that are not available in mass training. They should complement each other, and it is bad if one replaces the other. Unfortunately, there are overlaps when corporations spend money on non-core activities, giving basic skills to those who have already been trained. But corporate training centers are increasingly aware that their task is not to replace the system of vocational education, but to train employees in corporate competencies that are unique and standardized in a particular company.
